Not Surprising

Dishonest is the Norm

he Benghazi report released Tuesday makes clear that one dreadful constant of President Obama’s foreign policy is simply this: Deflect. Muddy the picture. Question the motivation.

Blame the wrong culprit when naming the right culprit might interfere with your narrative, or if doing so might oblige you to act when you do not wish to act.

In an addendum to the report, Reps. Jim Jordan and Mike Pompeo detail the fact that the administration knew perfectly well in the immediate aftermath of the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi that it had been planned and directed by Islamist radicals as an evil commemoration of 9/11.

(F memory serves, Obama went before the United Nations and repeated the false video claim.)

Well, You Hate to See Something Like This

How The White House Spen Bengahzi

New evidence obtained by the House Select Committee on Benghazi suggests the Obama administration forged ahead with a narrative that blamed the Sept. 11, 2012 attack in Benghazi on a protest over a YouTube clip, despite clear and consistent signs that the violence was planned and executed by a terrorist group.

In a 48-page summary of the committee's findings that was penned by a pair of Republican committee members and made public Tuesday, Reps. Jim Jordan and Mike Pompeo argued the administration presented the public with an explanation that had little basis in fact because President Obama was preoccupied with declaring terrorism dead ahead of his reelection.

Pattern of Corruption, Lying and Death

The final report of the House Select Committee on Benghazi found that senior members of the Obama administration, including then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and senior White House adviser Ben Rhodes, twisted the facts during and after the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attack in Benghazi, Libya, to preserve the illusion that the threat of terrorism was fading, just weeks before President Obama's re-election.

A scathing report also found that the military never lifted a finger to rescue the American citizens imperiled in the 13-hour terror attack, despite receiving orders to do everything possible to stop the bloodshed.

Muslim Influence Is Corrupting Western Universities

We cannot continue to live like this. We cannot let hardline Muslims and Muslim states elbow aside their reform-minded brethren and trample on our most essential freedoms. Without the example and standards set up by Western nations, the Muslim world itself will fall into even greater decline, and that will lead to greater violence everywhere. If we owe it to ourselves to resist this onslaught on our values, we also owe it to the Muslim world to protect it from its own resistance to and fear of change.

A Very Bad Sign for the Economy

American entrepreneurship is actually on the decline, and has been for decades. As the economists Ian Hathaway and Robert Litan documented in a 2014 Brookings Institution paper, the percentage of U.S. firms that were less than a year old fell by almost half between 1978 and 2011, declining precipitously during the recession of 2007-’09 with only a slow recovery after. According to the Commerce Department, the number of new businesses started by Americans has fallen sharply since 2000, and so too has the percentage of American workers working for companies that are less than a year old.

(I have a hunch entrepreneurship did well in the eighties as the economy boom,  it's certainly easy to believe the number of new businesses fell sharply since 2000)
