Oct. 31 is an Important Day in History

Forget the silly, and demonic, Halloween stuff. Oct. 31 is the day Martin Luther tacked up 95 theses on the church door at Wittenberg. With this act, he hoped to provoke a discussion among the scholars about the abuses of the indulgences by the Roman Catholic Church. The act transformed Christianity and Western Civilization. Thank goodness.

J. W. Wartick explains how the Reformation changed our culture and how it influences us today.

The Reach of Justice

Peace Activists Not All That Peaceful

Anti-Violence Activists Beat Colleague Senseless. One had on an "Anti-Violence" T-Shirt.

The Courageous Among Us

The Kurdish female commander in charge of leading all women fighters against Islamic State in the battle over the border town of Kobane is calling on women throughout the world to help defeat the Islamic State and end its mistreatment of women.

(Admirable but she won't get any help from Western feminists. They're too busy whining and wanted someone else to buy their birth control. The Kurdish female fighters are incredibly brave and are fighting evil. American feminists can't seem to tell the difference between good and evil.)

Another Idiotic School District -

A former Marine who served in Iraq has been banned from his daughter's Maryland high school after a heated argument over a lesson on Islam. (Students should not be told to list the "benefits" of Islam, even if they actually could find any.)

The Delusions of Progressives

Facts and truth are flexible to the Left.

Laws used to be real, not abstract. Again, not anymore. The administration sort of enacts some elements of Obamacare but ignores others. Enforcement of federal immigration law is negotiable, likewise depending on the campaign cycle.

The Tawana Brawley case, the Duke men’s lacrosse team accusations, and the O. J. Simpson verdict were constructed fantasies. No one cared much about the inconvenient facts or the lies that destroyed people’s lives — given that myths were deemed useful facts for achieving larger racial justice.

It no longer really matters much what the grand jury will find in the Michael Brown fatal-shooting case. Whether he had just robbed a store, was high on drugs, was walking down the middle of the road and prompted a violent confrontation with a police officer, or whether the officer was the aggressor in the confrontation, these have become mere competing narratives. The facts pale in comparison with the higher truth that Brown was black and unarmed, while Officer Darren Wilson white and armed. The latter scenario is all that matters.

Language is useful for inventing new realities. “Illegal alien” is a time-tested noun denoting foreign citizens who crossed a national border contrary to law. “Undocumented immigrant” is now used to diminish the bothersome fact that that millions have broken and continue to break the law.

Findings are Shocking in this Day and Age

Not Ready for Prime Time

(The) piece provides extensive evidence in support of one of our major concerns: that the current U.S. leadership is not up to the task of dealing with a world facing a fast-growing array of complex challenges..... If that is the mindset of the Administration—that this job is just too difficult—then the President needs to find himself a new national security team. Of course whether he would listen to that new team is a separate question.

(But if the radical leftists in the administration really believed that the United States was the major problem in the world, then an apology tour by Obama would have resolved it. But they were deluded and now reality is setting in.
